The Val Halla Golf Association invites and encourages all active Association Members and Eagle Level course members to participate in the Tournament Schedule. There are a variety of formats and championship events that offer something for everyone. If you have any questions, please inquire in the Pro Shop. Head Pro Brian Bickford and his staff can answer most questions or help you contact a member of the Committee.

The Official Tournament Schedule will be posted online. While we make every effort to set the schedule and adhere to it, occasionally we are forced to make a change. We will give as much notice as possible. It is the player’s responsibility to stay posted.

RULES: USGA Rules of Golf Govern play. Items not covered see “LOCAL RULES”.

WEATHER: If the course is open, the tournament will be played. If the course is closed, weekly tournaments will be cancelled; major and championship tournaments will be rescheduled and the rain date will be posted.

SIGNUP: All tournament information, times, fees, formats, etc., will be listed online (click here). The deadline for a Saturday event is 8:00 PM Wednesday. The deadline for a Sundayevent is 8:00 PM Thursday.

DRAWING: Tee times will be drawn Thursday’s or Friday’s and posted by Friday.

SCRATCHES: Cancellations MUST be made before tee time assignments…in person or by calling the Pro Shop (only if you can’t make it in person.) Cancellations after teams have been drawn are a problem for the committee and teammates. Multiple no-shows and no-calls will jeopardize eligibility.

ADDENDUM

Effective 5/21/14

The Tournament & Rules Committee has planned a tournament schedule for the enjoyment of all members of the Val Halla Golf who wish to participate.

The Committee understands that members may occasionally have unforeseen injuries or family emergencies arise that cause a sudden change in planned tournament participation.  We will make accommodations as long as we are informed by 6PM the day prior to the tournament.   Unfortunately, experiences in the past caused by a small minority, has forced to establish the followings rules to cover such events.

When an individual signs up for a tournament and is assigned to a team and a starting time, he is responsible for ascertaining the starting time and being on time. Please try to arrive 30 minutes prior to starting time to take care of Pro Shop business and not risk penalizing yourself or your team.

This applies to team events only.

  1. When a player will be late for his starting time and does not notify the Golf Shop or the Committee:
    1. Up to 5 minutes late, player incurs a 2 stroke penalty. (Note to rule 6-3a)
    2. More than 5 minutes, DQ.
    3. His team will tee off after the 5 minutes has elapsed with an alternate of comparable handicap or the Committee will blind draw a replacement.  ****In major tournaments blind draw will not be an option.  The team may accept an alternate if available, proceed without the no-show or withdraw and have their entry fee refunded.  Alternates should be encouraged to be present in case they’re needed.
    4. Will be ineligible for next tournament.
  2. When a player does not show up and does not call the Golf Shop or the Committee by 6:00 PM the Friday before the tournament or withdraws during the tournament without good cause:
    1. The player shall be responsible for the entry fee.
    2. The player will be ineligible for the next two tournaments.
    3. His team will tee off after the 5 minutes has elapsed with an alternate of comparable handicap or the Committee will blind draw a replacement.  ****In major tournaments blind draw will not be an option.  The team may accept and alternate if available, proceed without the no-show or withdraw and have their entry fee refunded.  Alternates should be encouraged to be present in case they’re needed.
  3. Multiple incidents may result in total tournament exclusion.

Please accept these rules in the spirit in which they were intended, enjoyment for all players.
